Jay Ressler - Fine Artist

Jay Ressler, 63, is a Pittsburgh fine art photographer and digital imager who has shown his work at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts (PCA), Fallingwater, Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Seton Hill University, Point Park University, Silvereye Center for Photography, at a number of Pittsburgh galleries, including in the city’s “Cultural District,” and other venues.
He is a member and officer of Pittsburgh Society of Artists (PSA), a Guild of PCA. In addition he is a member of Associated Artists of Pittsburgh (AAP), the oldest and largest local organization of artists in the U.S. which celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2010. He is also an Exhibiting member Silver Eye Center for Photography and of Digital Imagers of Pittsburgh, which meets monthly at the University of Pittsburgh. “Machine Age Blues,” his enigmatic abstract photograph received a Merit Award from juror Sarah Hall, Director of the Frick Art & Historical Center, in the exhibition: Point Park University Celebrates 100 Years of AAP.
His composite photograph “The Night Gerald Turned 60” was awarded a jurors award in the PSA exhibition “When Night Falls” at the PCA in 2009. In 2010 his photograph 'Morning at 3709' won First Place in Photography at the Monroeville Annual Art Show sponsored by the Monroeville Arts Council, as were his pieces “No. 36” in 2007 and his infrared photograph 'No Exit' in 2009.
Ressler is a native of Berks County, Pennsylvania. He settled in Pittsburgh in 2002 and works as a machinist. Previously he worked as an underground coal miner and heavy equipment operator.
In addition to designing JayRessler.com he designed and maintains MarthaRessler.com for his wife and partner Martha Ellen Ressler, who is a painter and fiber artist. A month-long show of his work hung at The Framery in Lawrenceville in 2009.
